Some people say the British police aren't respected because they don't carry guns. I think it's because of the silly hats.

Do you know they have a voluntary police force?
They have bikes and show hapless tourists were to go.
From what I understand they don't have many more rights than your average citizen. I think they like looking ridiculous.
